Leslie Crawford is a Southern California coastal gardener in Coronado, California. Living on a small lot, she has packed a lot of plants in a small area, gardens creatively, and experiments with propagation and espalier techniques. Succulents are her first love with growing food a close second.
The blog name, 3000Tomatoes, came to be when she lived at her last house. Her front yard was a veggie garden and one year an indeterminate cherry tomato decided to take over the yard. A dry-erase board with a running total of tomatoes picked was posted out front and neighbors (and strangers) were invited to pick tomatoes as long as they added to the count. We threw a big party at 1000 tomatoes.
We reached 2000 tomatoes about 10 days later.
We finally stopped counting at 3000 tomatoes (and had another party) about 2 weeks after that.
Still hard to believe we picked that many tomatoes, but it was a fun neighborhood project despite a few uninvited guests!
